Do We Need to Reform Formative Assessment in Education

Formative assessments help teachers analyze the particular topics that students are struggling with. They can target the learning progress of students through different means to get feedback from the students.

Without it, I don’t think I would have been able to be an effective decade. When I became a professor of education, charged with training the next generation of educators, I taught the formative assessment technique to them. When they used it in their field experiences and student teaching, they reported great results. They went on to use it in their classrooms and became successful teachers in their own right.

  •   They allow students to speed up where they feel they are lagging in the classroom.
