How to Set Google as Your Homepage on Different Web Browsers?

Opening the web browser we use and the initial search of the Internet most often comes down to going to Google. The vast majority of us automatically use the Google web search engine, but it can happen that the home pages that are set within individual web browsers are opened first. We then manually type “Google” into the available search bar or find Google as one of the suggestions that automatically appear when placed in the address bar or search bar. It can be annoying given it duplicates the number of steps to search for something online, especially when you want to find that something fast or when your, say, poker game at online casinos here is just about to start.

If you want to make life easier for yourselves and make Google your homepage, you need to change some settings. For each web browser, there’s a special way to set Google web search as your homepage.

Chrome

With Chrome, you can set Google as your homepage or as a page that launches immediately when you open it as a web browser.

When setting up Google as your homepage, you should first check whether the so-called “Homepage” button is available or not. It’s located to the left of the address bar as a house-shaped icon. If there’s no such button, you need to click on the three-point menu in the upper right corner and select the “Settings” option. The “Appearance” section is selected on the left and the “Show homepage button” option must be enabled.

To set the home page, you need to stay within the same menu. Below in that menu, you can see that the “New tab page” option has been selected. If you want to set Google as your homepage, you need to click on the option below where “Enter custom web address” is already listed in the bar. You need to type or copy the Google URL (https://www.google.com) into the bar and press “Enter”. That way, Google is set up as your homepage, and every time you click on the “Homepage” button, Chrome will take you directly to Google.

Setting Google for the page that’ll appear as soon as the Chrome web browser opens is edited in the so-called “Startup” section. You need to click the three-dot menu again in the upper left corner of Chrome. The “Settings” menu opens and then the “On startup” section is selected on the left. From the three offered options, click on “Open a specific page or set of pages” and select the option “Add a new page” below. Enter the Google URL in the bar below the “Site URL” heading.

With Chrome, you can also edit the homepage on the Android app. Unfortunately, the same is not possible for the Chrome version on the iPad and iPhone. You need to open the Chrome app on your Android device and click on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner. After that, select the “Settings” menu and scroll to the “Advanced” section where you click on “Homepage”. Check the second field and enter the Google URL on the available bar.

Firefox

When opening the Firefox web browser, you need to click on the menu in the upper right corner showing three horizontal lines. Then click on the “Settings” menu and select the “Home” section below on the left. The “Homepage and new windows” menu shows how “Firefox Home” is set as the home page. Next to it, on the right side, there’s an arrow that is clicked and the option “Custom URLs” is selected. Inside the “Paste a URL” field, enter the Google URL and press the Enter key. Now every time you open Firefox, the Google web search engine will be your homepage.

Within the same section, there’s an option “New tabs” where you can keep the Firefox default page to open new tabs or you can select “Blank page” and when you open a new tab a blank page will be displayed.

Users who use the Firefox app on Android must open the app and go to Google’s web search engine. You should then stay on the Google page and click on the three-point menu in the upper right corner. The “Add to top sites” option is selected. With this setting, Google will in the future be placed on Firefox’s default page, which is available immediately after opening the application, and a clickable Google icon will be displayed there.

Edge

If you want to set Google as your homepage within Microsoft Edge, follow a very similar procedure as with other web browsers. You need to open the Edge and click on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner. Then click on the “Settings” menu and select the “Appearance” section on the left. Scrolling brings up the “Home button” option, which must be enabled in order for the home button to be available to the left of the address bar.

Setting the home page is done by clicking on the “Set button URL”. Instead of “New tab page”, select the option located immediately below and in the bar of which “Enter URL” is specified. Enter Google’s URL in the ribbon and click the “Save” button to the right of the ribbon. In this way, Google’s web search engine was set up in Edge as the homepage.

If the user wants Google to open immediately when opening the Edge, they need to go to the “Settings” menu again. Now the “Start, home, and new tabs” section is selected on the left. In the “When Edge starts” section, click on the third option – “Open these pages”. On the right side, click on the “Add a new page” button and enter the Google URL within the displayed bar and click on the “Add” button.

Users of the Edge app on Android can also set Google as their homepage. When they open the Edge app, they have to click on the three-dot menu at the bottom of the window, select “Settings” and click on the “General” menu. At the bottom of the page, they must find the “Home page” section and select “A specific page”. A bar will appear containing Google’s URL.

Safari

Unfortunately, Safari on the iPhone and iPad doesn’t have a feature that’s solely used to set up the homepage. It’s possible to change the default web search engine to Google or add a Google link to the home screen.

The Mac has the ability to set a home page. You need to open Safari, click on the “Preferences” menu, and select “General”. Enter the Google URL within the “Homepage” field, and at the same time it’s recommended to check “New windows open with” and “New tabs open with”. They are fields located above and they are supposed to include “Homepage” as a preference.
